This program was created by two parents, Melanie and Todd Young, in conjunction with Michael Filewood,Bachelor of Arts & Diploma of Education and 15 years Classroom Teacher at Baulkham Hills Select High.

 

As parents, Melanie and Todd recognized the shift in society whereby extended family is not necessarily accessible to children as it was to previous generations, single parent homes are far more prevalent and parents in general are working longer hours to make ends meet.Parents and families are time poor or just don't have knowledge of how to fish successfully. Many children are missing out on the benefits of recreations, like fishing, for all of these reasons.

 

Our goal is to create a generation of children whom are confident, passionate and skilled in fishing to take the burden out of recreational fishing as a family. By providing a knowledgeable program focused on environmental preservation, we are excited to think this new generation will cherish the great outdoors and fishing.

 

Ultimately, we want to provide them with skills they will keep with them for life and hopefully drag them away from the computer or from looking for highs in other dangerous or undesirable ways as they get older.

A specialized program created for Stage 3 & 4 where the students are taken on an interactive educational outdoor adventure with all equipment provided!

  •  Single day program based on the Science & Technology Syllabus
  • Theory & practical sessions-wetlands role play group activity with props/script, casting at targets, buddy games, practical fishing session for Australian Bass
  • 7 venues across Sydney with easy access for buses or cars and free parking (Sydney International Regatta Centre Penrith, Parkside Reserve Carrs Park, Putney Park, Manly Dam, Windang and more.)
  • Free transportation for up to 60 students plus 10 adults by bus charter to and from the venue!
  • Safe/private/covered area where students are contained not available to the public.
  • Qualified instructors with 10 years experience teaching children through to adults. All staff undergo working with children checks and hold a current Certificate for Self-Employed People in Child Related Employment.
  • All instructors accredited with SFA
  • One instructor with Diplomas in both OHS and Quality Assurance ensures the highest standards of safety and best practice. This site and program has been comprehensively assessed for risks and hazards where any risks and hazards have been identified and minimised.
